After learning for a period, I finally obtained PMP certification. Three-month hard work finally paid off. I will brief introduce how I prepared for PMP to give you a reference.
Signing up for the PMP exam
I am engaged in the industry of software and internet development. I have been working as a project manager for two years and taken some training in the enterprise. I planned to do the position of management. Introduced by colleagues, I realized that PMP certification is important and valuable. Some enterprises require their partners to hold the certificate. It is recognized by more than 200 countries and it keeps improving and updating. Considering the value and reliability of the certificate, I decided to sign up for the exam.
Because PMP is issued by the United States, you need to register for the exam through PMP certification training institutions authorized by PMI. In China, the institutions are managed by the Bureau of Foreign Experts Affairs. As for the training institution, I chose SPOTO which is pretty good. As long as you listen to the class carefully and finish tasks on time, you are sure to pass PMI PMP exam. Once you miss one or two classes, you need to spend more time to catch up with the progress of the whole class.
Preparation
My preparation can be divided into three stages.
The first stage focused on reading books and self-learning, lasting about one month. You may start earlier to learn so that you can review more comprehensively. You can go through the PMP guidance, PMBOK one time to know the general content of the book. You can also take some notes down to connect each part of knowledge. Try to understand the content instead of reciting it mechanically.
The second stage emphasized doing PMP exam sample questions also lasting for one month. The teacher gave us a schedule. We needed to participated tests and do regular exercises on time. It is better to follow the schedule strictly so that you can better adjust to the pace of the real PMP exam which lasts for 4 hours. After doing the questions, you can conclude what mistakes you have made and consult teachers on the problems you cannot solve.
The third stage is the final sprint stage. In the last month, you need to make up for your weaknesses. It is not the right time to relax. You still need to focus on the knowledge you do not understand and the questions you have done wrong. Besides, you need to rest well so that you can better handle the exam. Avoid staying up late at night.
The biggest failure is to give up half the way. It is suggested to interact with teachers and classmates actively so that you can remember the knowledge more deeply. Finally, I would like to appreciate the support from my teachers, friends and families. I hope all of you can get a satisfied result. Persist and you can acquire the certificate.
